Another valuable item in your car is your gas if you really want to get the most for your money, use or siphon the remaining gas from the vehicle, and store in a dark, cool place.

Shop Around: As with any other business, each junkyard will offer you a different price, so be sure to call your local junkyards and price shop. They may ask you a few questions about the car’s make, model, condition, and damage. Try to be as transparent as possible at this stage, and they will give you a rough estimate of what your car is worth.

Many salvage yards will pay you more money if you dismantle the car yourself and tow the car to the junkyard, so be sure to ask! When shopping around, always factor in the amount of time it takes you to get the most for your junk car. If you decide to dismantle your vehicle, sell its individual parts, and obtain all of the necessary paperwork to sell your junk car by yourself, it may end up taking more time than it’s worth.
